About the Online DNP Program

The online DNP program covers 32 credits, including online coursework and a project residency that equips you for effective leadership through project idea, design and implementation.

This flexible, innovative program aims to produce nurses and nursing leaders who can act as advocates for inclusive, evidence-based practice at the highest levels of healthcare leadership.

What Will I Learn in the Online DNP Program?

Courses cover management, education, nursing research and advanced topics in population health. The program focuses intensely on improvement science to prepare you for strategic and effective decision-making that drives better quality care.

It culminates in a nursing project designed to synthesize the leadership theories and skills you have learned throughout the program. You can complete project hours at your place of work or in a different setting.

The Online DNP Practice Project Residency

The Herzing University online DNP includes a unique project residency component. This program with an eight-course sequence prepares you to marshal resources, lead teams, solve problems and evaluate project outcomes. 

The DNP project is highly personalizable—you will work with Herzing faculty to develop the purpose and scope of your project. It is also very flexible, allowing you to complete project hours at your current place of work or at another site. 

After completing the DNP project, you will be able to demonstrate that you have the skills necessary to develop and execute complex projects in hospitals, clinics, community health organizations and other practice settings.
