Gain Specialized Knowledge

Students in Herzing’s Health Information Management program will pursue specialized coursework in two areas:

  • Data Management – Gain a foundational understanding of database systems, standards for the exchange of healthcare information, and skills for managing data in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Revenue Management – Build knowledge of diagnosis and procedure codes, reimbursement and the revenue cycle process, as well as legal and regulatory issues.

As a Herzing student, you will:

  • Access state-of-the-industry virtual labs
  • Learn from experienced faculty and a curriculum that is compliant with CAHIIM 2014 AHIMA/CEE Academic Competencies requirements
  • Access a variety of health information management systems, such as drchrono, HealthPort, eSmartLog, QuadraMed MPI and Tableau
  • Be prepared to take AHIMA's Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification or AHIMA's Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification exam upon graduation, depending on your course of study

The Health Information Management accreditor of Herzing University is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The University’s accreditation for the Associate of Science degree and the Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management has been reaffirmed through 2030-2031.
